LM Series Linear Servo Motors Overview

Find a Local Distributor

LM Series Linear Servo Motors

Mitsubishi Electric’s LM Series of linear servo motors offer users a flexible, high-performance alternative to conventional linear motion systems. Linear servo motors enable servo level positioning accuracy at high linear speeds and with aggressive acceleration and deceleration rates. The LM Series is ideal for customers with demanding linear applications where high performance and precision are minimum requirements.

Direct Drive Motor

KEY FEATURES
  • Power in a small package – Increased winding density and an optimized core design, allow these small motors to achieve a thrust ranging from 150 N to 18,000 N, and a speed of up to 3 m/s on certain models.
  • Serial interface linear encoders – Our MR-J4 Series servo amplifier is compatible with a variety of common linear encoder types that use the Mitsubishi Electric Serial Interface or A/B/Z-phase differential output with a resolution of 1nm and up.
  • High accuracy synchronous control – Using the MR-J4 Series servo amplifier, with a CC-Link IE Field Network or SSCNET III/H compatible controller, high accuracy tandem synchronous control is possible.
  • Four types available – The LM Series is available in four different models: standard core, liquid-cooling core, magnetic attraction counter-force core, and coreless.

A LINEAR SOLUTION FOR FLEXIBLE MACHINE CONFIGURATIONS
  • Adaptable and versatile – The flexibility of linear servo motors makes them ideal for short-stroke and long-stroke applications.
  • Resilient and accurate – The rigid, linear design of these motors allow them to be dependable and precise.
  • A modern upgrade to outdated machinery – Linear servo motors allow for smoother operation than ball screw driving systems, requiring less maintenance and providing more output.
  • Two configuration types – Both tandem and multi-head configurations are available. See graphic below.

INDUSTRY AND APPLICATION EXAMPLES

  • Machine tools – XYZ positioning stages
  • Electronic assembly – Electronic assembly systems, semiconductor/LCD manufacturing systems
  • Material handling – Suitable for more conventional material handling configurations, as well as multi-head material handling between machines
  • Screen printing – For screen printing systems or large LCD coaters
