The M8V CNC Series combines fast, high-quality machining with advanced control technologies to reduce cycle time, extend tool life, and support complex machining applications

Vernon Hills, Illinois - June 8, 2026

Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. (Mitsubishi Electric Automation) has supported the North American machine tool industry for over 50 years, delivering high-speed, high-accuracy computerized numerical controls (CNCs) and reliable service. Building on this legacy, Mitsubishi Electric is expanding its M80 CNC Series with the introduction of the M8V CNC Series, designed to help manufacturers achieve faster machining, higher precision, and greater flexibility.

The M8V CNC Series builds on the proven performance of the M80 Series platform while adding advanced control functions that improve cycle times, extend tool life, reduce scrap, and support highly customized machining requirements. These enhancements help manufacturers minimize trial machining and defective parts while maintaining consistent, high-quality output.

According to research by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, as of August 2021, the M80V CNC Series is the industry's first NC control unit with built-in wireless LAN, enabling operators to connect machines to software tools on a remote PC for wireless data exchange. The M8V CNC Series can also deliver approximately 11% faster machining than the previous M80 CNC Series through optimal machine response-contour control (OMR-CC). Additional functions include cutting load control for shorter cycle times and longer tool life, as well as tool cutting point control to optimize machining when tool geometry changes without requiring program modifications.

To further support customization and usability, the M8V CNC Series allows image input from PCs or cameras to differentiate machine tools and supports ST language alongside ladder language, enabling PLC programs to be created and edited using conventional programming code. Integrated 3D machining simulation helps reduce waste from trial and defective machining, supporting more efficient and sustainable manufacturing practices.

Mitsubishi Electric Automation will showcase the M8V CNC Series at IMTS 2026 in Chicago at booth #338136, where attendees can see firsthand how these advanced control functions support high-speed, high-accuracy machining across a wide range of applications, including complex, high-mix, and precision machining environments.

"With the M8V CNC Series, we focused on giving machine builders and end users more control over speed, accuracy, and consistency without adding complexity," said Scott Strache, senior product manager for CNC at Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. "By combining faster machine response, advanced tool and load control, and built-in simulation, this platform helps customers reduce cycle time, protect tools, and confidently machine more complex parts. We’re excited to demonstrate these capabilities live at IMTS 2026."
